The Association for the Defense and Against Animal Abuse (Ademal) has announced the suspension of the demonstrations that, for the murder of the stray dog Timple, were to be held this Monday, August 17 in Lanzarote and other parts of the Canary and peninsular geography.
"Due to the current alert situation, due to the new cases of COVID-19 registered in Lanzarote and due to the serious warnings from the Government Delegation and the health services on the island, we have to communicate from the Association for the Defense and Against Animal Abuse (Ademal) that they are temporarily suspended until further notice," the organization said in a statement.
Ademal affirms that, throughout this Saturday, "attempts were made to find alternative solutions that did not materialize by all the groups, associations and protectors of the island that have already included probable dates of celebration for the month of September."
Manifesto reading and virtual demonstration
Instead, for Monday the 17th, and coinciding with the established time for the demonstration, a "manifesto of rejection for the death of Timple and the ridiculous penalties imposed on his captors and murderers" will also be read. This act, which does not yet have a place of celebration, will bring together all the representatives and managers of the previous one "so that, in an intimate act, which does not put the lives of the attendees at risk, they express their rejection, collectively and more united than ever for this common cause.
Ademal points out that another form of social rejection is the "great virtual demonstration" called by the Franz Weber Foundation, which will be broadcast live to the rest of the world via social networks and which "already plans to be one of the largest participation in history in animal defense."
From Ademál they reiterate their "most sincere gratitude" to all those who have been supporting them and to their colleagues in "these hard moments of pain, effort and work to ensure that justice is part of the process to consider animals as sentient beings and with full rights not yet declared.
