Several friends of Pedro, who was convicted of animal abuse for the death of Timple, have recorded a video in his defense, insisting that what happened was "an accident." "We are animal lovers. Some even vegans," says one of them, justifying that they would not defend their friend if they did not believe his version of what happened with this stray dog.
In the video, they repeat the story that Pedro himself had already spread through his social networks, when a wave of outrage began on the island after the sentence in which he and another woman were convicted was known. In the quick trial, both acknowledged the facts and accepted an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office, by which they were sentenced to four months in prison.
"That day he went to help and ended up having the worst day of his life," says one of his friends, who reiterates that Pedro went to the call of the other convicted woman, because the dog had entered her property.
According to them, what he tried to do was "get Timple out of the property", but they claim that the dog bit him on the hand. In this regard, several neighbors have told La Voz that Timple never showed aggressive behavior or attacked anyone, although he was skittish and used to run away from people.
In the video, Pedro's friends do not deny that he was the one who tied his legs and covered his snout with a flange and electrical tape, which ended up causing his death. However, they claim that when the dog died he was not on the property, since he had gone to the hospital for the bite he claims he suffered.
"Miriam sees that he was running out of air and instead of cutting the tape for fear of being bitten again, she makes a video to ask for help," they add. "There were a number of unfortunate events, but we want to make you understand that this was an accident," says another friend of Pedro.
"We are his friends and we are here to defend that he would be incapable of doing something like what social networks are interpreting," they argue, in response to all the criticisms that these events have aroused and even the concentrations that are being held.
"There should be more people like you," his friends say in the video, in which they talk about how what happened is "affecting" him, and end up sending him several messages of support, such as "you are incapable of killing a fly", "much strength", "we are with Pedro", "Pedro, we are with you".
