The autonomous communities have in their child protection services almost 12,400 unaccompanied foreign minors, of which about 40% are hosted in the Canary Islands network.

In a parliamentary response addressed to the PP deputies Isabel Borrego and Ana Belén Vázquez, the Government has made public the data of foreign minors hosted throughout Spain until October 31: 10,728.

But that figure has skyrocketed with the continuous arrivals to the Canary Islands, which on that date hosted 3,030 minors and, according to data provided by the authorities of the islands, are already around 4,700.

With that updated data, the registry of unaccompanied minors under guardianship, which is coordinated by the State Attorney General's Office, shows that the second autonomous region that has hosted the largest number of these children and adolescents is Andalusia (1,707), followed by Catalonia (1,337) and the Valencian Community (1,016).

The following communities that have more foreign minors under guardianship are Madrid (849), the Basque Country (667), the Balearic Islands (319), Castilla y León (295), Melilla (276), Murcia (240), Ceuta (221) and Galicia (209).

On the contrary, the autonomous regions with fewer hosted are La Rioja (10), Cantabria (34), Extremadura (53), Asturias (64), Aragon (125), Navarra (133) and Castilla-La Mancha (143).

On December 5, the Council of Ministers approved the distribution of 20 million euros to support the communities in hosting 396 foreign minors derived from the saturated centers of the Canary Islands and Ceuta to the peninsula.

The following table shows, by years, the number of unaccompanied foreign minors hosted in the different autonomous communities since 2015.
