The parish of San Ginés Obispo in Arrecife is immersed in celebrating each of the events scheduled for Holy Week. On the afternoon of Holy Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the Holy Mass was celebrated, presided over by the titular priest, Miguel Hernández, assisted by three fellow priests. In this Mass, the Holy Oils were presented to the community: of the Catechumens, of the sick, and Holy Chrism, which had been consecrated by the bishop of the Diocese, Francisco Caces Andreu.
After the Holy Mass, the procession of the Holy Encounter took place, headed by the music band directed by the maestro, Pepe Ártiles, accompanying the entire processional route, interpreting the corresponding musical genres for the occasion. Following the band was the image of Jesus the Nazarene accompanied by Veronica, Magdalene, and Saint John. A few minutes later, the image of Our Lady of Sorrows emerged, flanked by the Disciples of the Virgin. They traveled the different streets until they reached La Plazuela, where the Holy Encounter took place. There, with great reverence, the public listened very attentively to "El Fervorií," special for such an emotional moment in which Jesus meets his Mother on the way to Calvary.
Once finished, the soprano Sheyla Rizo, accompanied on the piano by Professor Melba Ártiles, sang the Ave Maria, receiving a warm applause from the public at its conclusion. Then, the procession began its return to the church, accompanied by many parishioners.
