The Arrecife Children's Library will host two new sessions of the second cycle of 'Barriguitas' on September 7 and October 26, a project with the aim of improving care for pregnant women and stimulating their babies through stories. In addition, women will be able to attend the session with a companion.
The conferences will be given by Mom Peraza, an expert in oral narration since 2004 and in charge of the development of each of the 'Barriguitas' cycles. The capacity in each of the classes is 15 women, although today there are still possibilities to register.
The deputy mayor and councilor of Culture of the Arrecife City Council, Jose Alfredo Mendoza, has highlighted the importance of offering women this type of session. "Barriguitas has been a great advance for pregnant women who will be able to improve their quality of life. The Children's Library is the best possible setting to carry out each of the sessions," he pointed out.
Sessions
According to the Council, each session will be divided by a series of practices. Pregnant women will perform several physical exercises to prepare for childbirth in the best possible way. However, the sessions will be focused on prenatal stimulation through storytelling. Thanks to this, it is stated that "they will be able to recognize their parents more easily."" Narrations through stories, tales or poems will help develop the child's brain and improve their intellect," it is noted.
The penultimate session of Barriguitas of 2019 will be held on Saturday. "The experience of the women who have already attended is unbeatable. The good atmosphere among the colleagues together with the good programming by Mom Peraza suggest that the Barriguitas project will continue to grow and improve for the 2020 edition," it is concluded from the City Council.
