The San Ginés festivities officially began on Friday night with the reading of the proclamation by the teacher Dolores González Borges. The herald made an emotional tour of the celebrations of her childhood: "With the arrival of the holidays everything became extraordinary, and the city became more bustling. A magical time of agitation and nervousness began for the children. The monotony of a calm, peaceful and quiet life was broken, barely altered by some social or family event, which took place in the tranquility of a city with hardly any cars, where the streets were the natural setting for children's games."
The herald, professor of Art History, whose working life has been linked to the Pancho Lasso Art School, provided historical details of the celebration supported by images projected on the wall of the plenary hall of the City Council, which recreated the festive and religious atmosphere of San Ginés, several decades ago.
The mayor of Arrecife, José Montelongo, invited the residents of Arrecife to enjoy the festivities and stressed that one of the commitments of the City Council he chairs is
