A participant in the thirtieth edition of Ironman Lanzarote is currently in the ICU of the Doctor Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria. Pedro Tomé Hernández, as the triathlete is called, is recovering in the hospital center of Gran Canaria to try to return to Toledo as soon as possible.
According to the newspaper La Tribuna de Toledo, the member of the Bull Project club decided to abandon the Ironman in the bicycle test, since he was not in perfect condition. In addition, the Toledo newspaper points out that apparently the triathlete would have started the test being positive for Covid, without him knowing it, which could have caused him "a small heart attack."
"I noticed that not enough air was entering and little by little I was losing rhythm," says the triathlete according to the Toledo newspaper. At first he was transferred to the José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, although after some initial assessments it was decided to transfer him to Gran Canaria.
