Last Saturday, July 10, the Acatife group brought the XVII Festival that bears its name to the stage of the Santo Domingo convent in La Villa de Teguise.

For this edition they had the Lanzarote timple player Gabriel García, who was accompanied by four magnificent musicians and two soloists who were in charge of putting the young note and giving freshness to the first part of the festival.

The second part was filled by the musical group "Chedey" who came from Tacoronte, Tenerife. A total of 25 members who were in charge of making the audience vibrate, who enthusiastically did not stop applauding their entire repertoire.

The organizing group Acatife prepared for this edition a repertoire with the purest Canarian flavor where isas, folías, malagueñas, seguidillas and sorondongos were heard. While the conejero group was on stage, a video was projected where the life of this year's distinguished person with the "Volcán de Plata" was revealed, the highest award that Acatife gives each year to a person involved in maintaining the culture of our land.

On this occasion the lucky one was Esteban Morales, popularly known as "Juanele". Morales is the son of the teacher and builder of the timple in Teguise, Simón Morales, belonging to a saga that is about to turn 150 years old, giving the timple a projection throughout the world. "Juanele" inherited this profession from his father and he himself comments: "I don't know how to do anything other than timples"

Alfredo Cabrera, president of Acatife, presented him with the "Volcán de Plata" under an impressive ovation of applause from the public that packed the convent. After the presentation, Acatife continued its repertoire, putting an end to this edition and with the hope of returning next year.
