The popular music group Acatife brought the songs of the interior to the Charco de San Ginés. At 9:00 p.m., the concert began before an expectant audience eager to enjoy listening to a group of twenty men who 35 years ago became known in Teguise. They had the objective of deepening the knowledge and dissemination of the island's folklore and thus contributing to its development. They have done so with their own contributions, approaching their work from three different angles: the rescue still present in the collective memory, the musicalization of lyrics by popular songwriters and poets, with special attention to research work on the musical heritage.
For this concert, Acatife had three guest soloists who have been part of the group and who are currently in other musical groups or performing independently when they are called to participate, as in this occasion. Sergio Cabrera was a founder of Acatife, Ciro Corujo and Iván Díaz joined later, also sharing a considerable amount of time, all of them contributing their voices, thus achieving the continuity of the group.
In its concert, Acatife reviewed some of the compositions that it has already collected on its 6 albums, which cover different genres from the most traditional Canarian music such as folías, isas, seguidillas or malagueñas, to bolero, guajira or joropo. The public, which once again packed the venue located next to the House of Fear, enjoyed a night where Acatife and the soloists Sergio, Ciro and Iván raised those present from their chairs to wrap them with their applause.
Without a doubt, Acatife managed to leave the bar very high with a performance where the music and voices of its members, together with the soloists, crystallized like the tongue of water that bathes the bank of the Charco de San Ginés.
The Acatife family is fully preparing the events for the 35th Anniversary to be held next November in Teguise.
