Guitarists, bassists, percussionists, a pianist and a saxophonist prepared the atmosphere of the San Bartolomé Theater with warm rhythms to accompany the entrance of the respected Césarea Évora. The artist from Cape Verde appeared on stage dressed in black and barefoot, cigarette pack in hand, dancing with the tenderness of a 68-year-old singer.

The full capacity of the theater listened attentively to the songs of an Évora who remained serious throughout the recital but whose sobriety did not distance the audience. The joy of the young musicians who accompanied her contrasted with the figure of the artist immobile in the center of the stage, microphone in hand. This silhouette was the focus of all eyes, which the dances of the saxophonist or the masterful solos of the guitarist could not distract.

Clapping, chanting and a fervent applause when the black lady took a break to smoke a cigarette that she dedicated to the public, sitting next to the piano, were the protagonists of the recital. The artist left the stage alone but the applause returned her to the stage to sing a Bésame mucho that the public appreciated with their choruses.

And the end of the performance reserved a surprise. The artist asked her fans to get up from their seats and indicated with her hands that what was coming was going to be the last song. With the audience standing close to the stage, the artist sang the well-known Sangue de Beirona. Thus, the last rows approached to dance to the endearing artist, whom they looked at with affection while moving their hips. A gesture that Évora received with affection, so, once the performance was over, when she was already saying goodbye from the hand of the instrumentals, she asked the musicians to return to their places to give the public an encore of the mythical song.
