Amavir has announced the winners of the "My parents are superheroes" contest, in which a child from Lanzarote has won. Asier Romero Betancor, son of Judith Betancor, a worker at the Amavir residence in Haría, has won the prize in the under 8 category.
The "My parents are superheroes" contest is an initiative included within the "It's time for unity" project, with which Amavir wants to continue showing society the work that professionals working in residences are carrying out during the coronavirus pandemic.
"The families of Amavir workers have also experienced the fight against the virus day by day and have seen firsthand the effort, dedication and sacrifice of their relatives," Amavir points out. "This is the reason why at Amavir we wanted to launch a drawing and writing contest aimed at the children of our staff, so that they could reflect how their parents have become superheroes when it comes to caring for our elders and caring for their families," says its general director, Lourdes Rivera.

Children and young people, as well as nephews and grandchildren of the workers, participated in the children's and youth contest, divided into three categories: under 8 years old, from 8 to 12 and from 12 to 16. The idea was to present an original drawing or essay that represented what they have perceived from the work of their parents, uncles or grandparents when caring for the elderly or the work of the residences during the pandemic.
In the 8 to 12 year old category, the winner was Nerea Rodríguez Fernández (Amavir Alcorcón, Madrid), daughter of Sara Fernández Vázquez. Finally, in the 12 to 16 year old category, the winner was Cristina Berzosa Montero (Amavir Don Quijote, Tomelloso, Ciudad Real), daughter of Cristina Montero Cuevas.
The winners of each of the categories have received a prize of 100 euros and an accrediting diploma. All the winning works, as well as the finalists, can be seen on the website "It's time for unity".
