The General Directorate of Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands has put the third modernization plan of Puerto del Carmen out for public display. From this Monday and within a period of 30 days, it can be consulted through its publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

This initiative started in April 2020, when the regional Executive agreed to formulate the initiative to develop and process this third plan. Already in February 2021, the environmental assessment procedure started and was exposed to the consultation process by different administrations involved.

In this line, the Vice-Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport issued a favorable report, while the General Directorate of Coast and Sea presented observations and suggestions to be incorporated into the document. For its part, the General Directorate of Aviation also presented allegations.

This modernization plan aims to renovate and modernize the tourist resorts to improve the image of the town of Tías. Therefore, the plan concentrates different interventions "both of private initiative and public initiative".

Currently, the drafting of the third plan will be in the hands of a multidisciplinary technical team (drafting team), which will have professionals from Urban Planning, Architecture, Environment, Legal, Infrastructure Engineering and Economics. Thus, it will be directed by the architect Rafael Castellano Brito.
