The AUGC demands the "increase" of the Civil Guards' maintenance allowance

The amounts of money that the agents of the Benemérita receive, in the opinion of the association, are "clearly insufficient", they have highlighted

The Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC) demands the need to "increase" the maintenance allowance, since it is currently "impossible to have breakfast, lunch and dinner for just over 20 euros", they highlighted during the last Plenary Session of the Civil Guard Council.

The association has presented the amounts of money offered to the Benemérita staff: 48.92 euros for accommodation, 28.21 euros for maintenance and 77.13 euros for a full allowance. "These amounts are clearly insufficient. And although the amounts collected are for all civil servants, it turns out that civil guards and police officers are the most affected by this R.D. because of their service," they added.

An affectation given in the first place "with the increase of the remunerative concept destined to maintenance and lodging, but also to homologate and equate the amount perceived indistinctly of the employment or scale. When for reasons of service the civil guards have to leave their homes, since all people have the same needs", they pointed out.

For AUGC it is of "urgency" that this measure is extended, and "not only in a punctual way" as in the case of the device for the Presidency of the EU, or as it has also been done on previous occasions, with the Summer Operation within the Safe Tourism Plan, which included a set of actions aimed at preventing the commission of criminal acts of which national and foreign citizens may be victims in the summer resorts of some Autonomous Communities.

Recently, an "increase of 180 euros per day" has been approved in the maintenance and accommodation allowances for agents commissioned in Ibiza and Formentera by the General Directorate of the Civil Guard, they recalled. Although this measure seeks to "reinforce the staff during the summer period, from AUGC we maintain that it does not address the underlying problem that affects the civil guards assigned to these Islands", they pointed out.

In the first place, "the cost of living is very high. The reinforcement of staff should be aimed at making it permanent and not only in the summer season and on the other hand, there is the problem of mass tourism that entails more work for the same staff", they pointed out from the association.

In addition, "the lack of permanent personnel leads to an overexertion on the part of a staff that has to attend to the needs of the local citizens, plus the tourist". This has led to the fact that, in units such as the one in Ibiza, "its staff is currently with more than 50% on medical leave, without its current commanders having bothered to know the problems of its workers", they criticized.

"Although it is positive news, from AUGC we insist again that this problem requires a global and definitive solution. It is incongruous that the allowances have not been updated for 20 years (their first publication). This situation forces hundreds of civil servants to put money out of their own pockets for maintenance and accommodation in the services that require them, sometimes abundant in many units", they concluded.
