A social media user has reported a new environmental attack. This time the victim has been the volcanic tube of the La Corona volcano, where a visitor wanted to leave his mark and paint his name inside this space located in the north of Lanzarote.
The volcanic tube of La Corona is a cave that was formed with the eruptions of this volcano 21,000 years ago and extends for 7.6 kilometers long. A part of the lava flows were submerged under water, specifically 1.6 kilometers, which makes it the longest submerged volcanic tube in the world.
This volcanic space is located in the protected area of the La Corona Natural Monument, which includes the badlands, the volcano and the volcanic tubes and is declared as a Site of Scientific Interest of Los Jameos.
As a result of this graffiti, the aforementioned user reflected on social networks: "Do you know how many Tonys there are in the world? There must be about 100,000 million Tonys, however this wonder that we see here, the La Corona tunnel, 7.5 kilometers of volcanic wonder in the purest Indiana Jones style is unique, but Tony at some point decided that he wanted to leave his indelible mark on a heritage that belongs to everyone."
In this line, the user highlighted from inside the volcanic tube of the La Corona Volcano that "from here we send a very affectionate greeting to Tony. We would be delighted to meet him and also for the local authorities to meet him. That said, it would be interesting to know when the budget for cleaning the La Corona tunnel will be put into operation."
To conclude, the user has launched a question into the air: when will the cleaning plan for the volcanic tube of La Corona be put into operation.
