The Cabildo of Lanzarote will organize the 1st Conference on Dependency in the Canary Islands ‘Transformation of Dependency in the Canary Islands’ on October 13 and 14. This pioneering event on the Island will take place in the Jameos del Agua and will bring together more than thirty prominent figures from the Archipelago in several round tables that will take place during both days.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, and the councilor of Social Rights, Isabel Martín, will receive the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, the regional councilor of Social Rights, Noemí Santana, who will inaugurate the event, and other personalities from politics, press and public administrations from all over the Archipelago.
Dolores Corujo highlights that "this pioneering initiative on the Island will address issues of vital importance to advance in the areas of Dependency, Social Services, Social Work and other fundamental tasks for the most vulnerable groups."
"A large part of our progress comes from inter-administrative collaboration, thanks to which, with the help of city councils and the Government of the Canary Islands, we have launched the 'Comprehensive Care Service for Dependency on the Island of Lanzarote (SAIDIL)', giving greater and better coverage to people who need it in Lanzarote and La Graciosa", indicates the president.
Conference program
The opening ceremony of the I Conference on Dependency in the Canary Islands will be on Thursday, October 13, starting at 9:30 a.m., and will feature the intervention of Noemí Santana.
On the first day, there will be a presentation "Evolution of the Dependency Care System in the Canary Islands. The challenges of an immediate future", by the director of Disability and Dependency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Marta Arocha, and the president of the Association of Directors and Managers of Social Services of Spain, José Manuel Ramírez Navarro.
Next, there will be three round tables: "The necessary development of the Social Services System to promote the Dependency Law", moderated by the journalist Mayer Trujillo, with the participation of José Manuel Ramírez Navarro, Ángel Parreño Lizcano, Patricia Hernández Gutiérrez, María Auxiliadora González Bueno and Elena Suárez Pérez.
The second will be "Dependency in the day-to-day of Public Administrations", moderated by the councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jorge Peñas, with the participation of Maria Gleris Suárez Rivero, Myriam Febles Vargas, Carmen Acosta, Silvia Recuerda Martínez.
The last one of the first day will be "The necessary work of Social Work in Dependency", moderated by the mayor of San Bartolomé and president of the Social Welfare Commission of the FECAM, Isidro Pérez, with the participation of Maria Jesús Ortíz Ramírez, Carmen Laucirica Gabriel, Diana Plaza and Moisés Oliva González.
The second day will begin with the presentation "State Financing in the Dependency System", by the Deputy Minister of Social Rights of the Government of the Canary Islands, Gemma Martínez, and the general director of Imserso, Luis Alberto Barriga Martín.
The first round table of the day will be "The important coordination between Public Administrations", moderated by the deputy in the Parliament of the Canary Islands Nira Fierro, with the participation of Jerónimo Saavedra Acevedo, Noemí Santana, María Dolores Corujo and María Brito Nuñez.
The last round table of the event will be "The progress of Dependency in the Canary Islands: SAIDIL" and will be moderated by Isabel Martín, with the participation of Juana Bello, Javier Hernández Santana and Ruyman Torres Pérez.
The closing ceremony will be led by Ángel Víctor Torres, María Dolores Corujo and Noemí Santana.
