IES Puerto del Carmen celebrates its XVI Day of Coexistence

The center welcomes more than twenty nationalities and with these activities it aims to strengthen ties between students, teachers and families

The Secondary Education Institute of Puerto del Carmen celebrated its XVI Day of Coexistence last Tuesday in Playa Grande, with workshops and activities led by the students of the center.

"This type of activities are part of the formation not only academic, but social, and of the learning as the future of our municipality that they are, and members of this society where we coexist in multiculturalism and respect", highlighted the Councilor of Education of Tías, Tomás Silvera, who traveled there with the mayor, José Juan Cruz, and the councilors of Youth, Cristofer Notario, and Sports, Sergio García.

Tomás Silvera also thanked the management team of the institute for the invitation and applauded "this initiative of coexistence in the natural environment."

"Given the characteristics of the Educational Community of the IES Puerto del Carmen, being a multicultural educational center, which welcomes more than twenty different nationalities of students and families, it is necessary, after the pandemic, to continue promoting initiatives of educational actions that promote a good climate of coexistence of the entire educational community among students, teachers and families, so that they conceive the center within the framework of tolerance, respect, freedom, as well as the prevention and resolution of conflicts", they emphasize from the City Council.

The day, which took place during school hours, included workshops on kite making, mathematical bingos, yoga, laughter therapy, sailor knots, sign language, as well as sports activities such as beach volleyball, rugby and football.
