Concerning increase in the abandonment and burning of cars in El Jable

The Ecological Brigade of the Teguise City Council has detected a "worrying" increase in the number of cases of abandonment and burning of cars in El Jable, both in the area that is within the Natural Park of the Chinijo Archipelago, as well as in the surrounding areas. In addition, according to the City Council, vehicle races are held on the dirt tracks of El Jable, which sometimes end with the abandonment of the car after a rollover. It is speculated that, to avoid sanctions, they burn the cars.

These actions are severely sanctioned by the Agency for the Protection of the Urban and Natural Environment of the Government of the Canary Islands, as they occur on protected land. The City Council points out that it has removed dozens of these cars in recent years.

Regarding the abandonment of vehicles, the City Council informs that there is an agreement with the company Recuperadora Canaria for their free removal, thus saving the processing of files that delay the cleaning of the streets.
