Arrecife Bus Station

Two hooded men tried to rob a bus driver at the station in Arrecife this Tuesday, April 25. The events occurred at 11:20 p.m., ten minutes before he was about to resume his working day.

The two assailants "threw the driver to the ground and hit him on the head" "with the aim of taking the day's takings", Ricardo Hernández, CCOO delegate of Bus/Intercity, tells La Voz.

An unsuccessful action since "they could not take anything, thanks to the intervention of two users who were about to get on the bus", he adds. Thanks to their presence, the aggressors "fled the scene."

The driver had to "leave his job", quickly "go to the Valterra Medical Center", to be able to "present the injury report to the National Police later", says Ricardo. After this process, "he proceeded to report" what happened.

The victim is on medical leave, with "a picture of anxiety" and "very stressed", the delegate reports. Now he lives with a feeling "of being attacked again." Due to the incident, he has an injury to the "left ear and another internal one with inflammation."

The National Police is investigating who the aggressors are, through the images captured by the station's security cameras.

The union representative, on behalf of all the bus drivers of Bus/Intercity, asks that "an immediate solution" be taken to avoid the "desperate" situation they are in. They demand that the Cabildo "put security personnel" in the "most problematic stops."
