A woman had to be rescued this Thursday on El Reducto beach, in Arrecife. Two bathers realized that the affected woman was in trouble and managed to get her out of the water.
The event occurred around 6:20 p.m. The woman, a resident of El Reducto, was taking a bath on the beach when she began to feel ill. Two bathers quickly realized the problems the woman was having, who was elderly, and managed to get her out of the water.
An ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service went to the scene, attended to the woman, and transferred her to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital. The affected woman was evacuated to a hospital center because the paramedics who attended to her observed that she had a lot of water in her lungs, according to La Voz.
The rescue had to be carried out by these bathers because El Reducto does not currently have surveillance. At least, at the time of the events, there was no one from Civil Protection, who was supposedly going to take charge of this beach after the departure of the Red Cross.
