Twenty-nine immigrants have disembarked around nine in the morning this Sunday at the port of Órzola, in the north of Lanzarote, escorted by forces of the Civil Guard.
The boat in which they were traveling was intercepted by the Armed Institute nine miles north of Lanzarote and a boat from the Benemérita was transferred to the place to escort them to the coast.
Due to the state of the sea at that time of the morning, the Patrol Boat could not dock in the port, so the immigrants had to be taken ashore in the Benemérita zodiac and in the immigrants' own boat.
An Immediate Response Team in Emergencies of the Red Cross provided health and humanitarian assistance to the immigrants, being able to verify that the state of health of all of them was good, including that of the woman and the thirteen possible minors, with the exception of one of these who did require being transferred to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital due to a hand injury, after being assessed by a Red Cross nurse from that team. In the Civil Guard facilities in Costa Teguise, the immigrants received shelter and food from the humanitarian device deployed.
This is the second boat with immigrants to arrive in the Canary Islands this weekend, after another with 13 occupants arrived on Saturday at Las Carpinteras beach, in the southwest of Gran Canaria. In this case, all were male, adults and also of Maghreb origin.
