The 52-year-old woman who was seriously injured in the fire in the squat house on El Hierro street in Arrecife after being doused with gasoline while sleeping in the early morning of January 11 remains in critical condition although she has experienced some improvement. According to investigation sources, the victim, who suffered burns on 75% of her body, is sedated and on assisted breathing.
The 39-year-old man is in the same situation, suffering burns on 40% of his body. Like his partner, he is sedated and on assisted breathing. Both victims had to be transferred to the Burn Unit of the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in Seville.
Regarding the 52-year-old woman's son who was there, he is in the José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife due to the inhalation of toxic smoke, his condition has also improved.
The National Police of Arrecife arrested the Moroccan Abdelaziz Marzug as the alleged perpetrator of the gasoline fire in the abandoned house on El Hierro street. The investigating court number 4 of Arrecife ordered last week his imprisonment for attempted homicide and arson crimes.
