The roof of a house in Playa de la Arena collapsed early this Tuesday, December 30, due to heavy rains.
The woman who lived in the house was not injured but has been transferred by the Red Cross to the Department of Social Services in the Arrecife City Council because she lacks the economic means to take care of the repairs, according to the NGO.
The house, which is located on Playa de la Arena, between the Castle of San José and the Port of Mármoles, has been secured by firefighters to prevent possible future collapses.

The heavy rains recorded in Lanzarote have caused flooding in several areas of the island. In the capital, Arrecife, the streets of Jacinto Borges and Gómez Ulla are some of the most affected according to information provided by the Emergency Consortium. Las Saltonas, the Argana neighborhood and the Altavista neighborhood also have flooded areas such as Padre Claret Street. "The street looks like a pond or the Charco de San Ginés", lamented a frightened neighbor this morning, "the sewer is clogged and in a nearby house the water is entering inside", she assured.
The Arrecife City Council has suspended the activities scheduled for today, Tuesday, December 30, within the Christmas 2008 program, due to the intense rains that have been felt throughout the island since last night.
Therefore, the activities of the "Christmas at School" campaign are suspended in the morning, and the workshops to be held in the afternoon at the Fairgrounds, where the skating rink will also remain closed.
