The group of four young people, two romantic couples, who were at the scene of the events on March 28, 2004, a house in the town of Corralejo in Fuerteventura, had used drugs. This has been stated during the trial by two of them and the two forensic doctors since, according to the expert tests carried out 50 hours after the events, the defendant contained in his blood "high doses of two hallucinogenic drugs such as cocaine and ecstasy". This has also been the argument used by the defense lawyer, who has considered the psychotropic substances as the cause of the hallucinations allegedly suffered by the defendant and for which he considers that "he was not aware" of the injuries caused to the one who was his romantic partner at that time and two of his friends.

That day, the accused went out through the Corralejo leisure area and returned with a couple of friends and his girlfriend to their home to spend the night. The next day, he suffered "a series of hallucinations that made him believe he saw a person who did not exist", and that, according to the indictment, "significantly diminished" the defendant's awareness of reality. "He was super upset and very nervous, he seemed out of his mind," explained one of the witnesses, who said that "sometimes he said incoherent things." That is why his girlfriend called her best friend, who showed up at the house shortly after. At one point, the defendant's state of nervousness increased and "he became more violent, attacking the people who were there."

He injured his partner and two of those present to varying degrees, whom he had previously locked in the house by closing the door of the house and keeping the key. According to the witnesses' account, he uttered insults and threats against his girlfriend and his best friend, who had arrived at the house a few minutes earlier.

In the trial, which had its first hearing last February and held its continuation this Friday, April 11, a total of seven people testified, including the defendant's ex-girlfriend and three of his friends who witnessed the events, the two experts who carried out the medical and toxicological reports, as well as the Proyecto Hombre therapist who has supervised the defendant's detoxification treatment for 17 months.

The Prosecutor's Office has considered the judged facts to be proven and has concluded that "everything started with a jealousy problem," as confirmed by the testimony of the witnesses. Thus, he holds him responsible for the situation and asks for a sentence of a total of eight years in prison.
