The Arrecife Prosecutor's Office is asking for Judge Rafael Lis, who is investigating the car theft in the Unión Case, to be removed from the case. At the beginning of last year, the first investigating judge in this case, César Romero Pamparacuatro, reported to the Arrecife Courts the theft or disappearance of more than twenty original cars.
The complaint fell to Court number 3 of Arrecife, whose owner is Rafael Lis. A few months after that complaint, Lis's wife, Margarita Alejo, who is a lawyer, took over the defense of the well-known businessman Juan Francisco Rosa in the case of the Stratvs winery. Rosa is charged in Stratvs and Unión and some of the evidence found in the Unión summary was incorporated into that of Stratvs.
Pamparacuatro recused Judge Lis because he believes that this link may affect the impartiality of the investigation, and the Arrecife Prosecutor's Office not only supports that recusal and asks that he be removed, but also believes that there is sufficient basis to doubt the impartiality of Judge Lis.
