Agents of the Local Police of Yaiza located and arrested this Tuesday morning the alleged perpetrator of the fire that occurred early this Wednesday morning at the Gran Castillo hotel, in the Las Coloradas urbanization. The municipal Emergency and Security services of the Yaiza City Council spent more than 4 hours extinguishing the fire that forced the evacuation of the hotel.
The Yaiza Police were alerted by the security and surveillance personnel of the hotel who gave some clues and characteristics of the person who allegedly caused the fire. Thus, and after the activated device, it was possible to locate in the early hours of this morning, in the Playa Blanca area, a man born in Galicia in 1977 whose description corresponded to those observed by the hotel security guards who confirmed that he caused the incident this morning.
The Councilor for Security and Emergencies of Yaiza, José A. Lemes Cabrera, and the sergeant chief of the Local Police of Yaiza, Emilio Hernández, went to the scene of the incident this morning where, fortunately, no personal injuries have been reported. The flames and smoke alerted the population of Playa Blanca.
The alleged arsonist has been identified with the name of J.L.A, born in Galicia, and resident on the island. After the police detection by the Yaiza agents, he was transferred to the Civil Guard for the instruction of the proceedings and his being brought to judicial disposition.
