The Local Police of Arrecife has charged 21 people with an alleged crime against industrial property and has seized 25,197 counterfeit products of internationally renowned brands and national brands, including items such as t-shirts, caps, bags, watches or glasses, worth 4,219,565.80 euros. All this has been the result of the operation that the Police has carried out in recent months in different parts of the capital, such as industrial warehouses, the Charco de San Ginés market or retail establishments.

The police began the operation in April, in which various operatives carried out several searches of premises, warehouses, warehouses and vehicles. The first of these took place in an industrial warehouse on April 20, where "three people of Chinese nationality were charged and a total of 19,164 counterfeit articles were seized, which would have reached a value in the illicit market of 1,442,568 euros", according to the Police. They also proceeded "to seal a die-cutting machine, with which counterfeits of leather products were made" and "to confiscate 44,000 false adhesive labels of the CE (European Conformity)", which manufacturers use to inform users of compliance with European legislation. For this reason, the Police has assured that "consumers have been deceived". In this action, "about 1,830 metal plates of the distinctive signs of various prestigious brands, which were assembled in generic products" were also seized.

The second operation, carried out in the market located in the Charco de San Ginés on April 26, started from "the complaints of the various merchants of the municipality" since these alleged sales "affect the profits of the establishments that comply with current regulations", the Local Police has assured. This action resulted in the indictment of "ten people from different African countries" and the intervention of "a total of 2,430 counterfeit articles", worth 2,163,998.12 euros. In addition, two days later the Police charged two street vendors for the same events.

The third police intervention within this operation took place this Wednesday, as reported by La Voz. In it "six people from different Asian countries were charged and a total of 3,603 counterfeit articles were seized", which would have generated a profit of 612,999.68 euros for them.

The Local Police of Arrecife has highlighted that in the last year and a half "about 30 people have been charged", two of them from street vending in the municipal market, for several "crimes related to document forgery and other various crimes against road safety", for which various driving licenses and other identification and travel documents were seized.
