Canal Gestión Lanzarote and the Water Consortium have reported that, late this Sunday, the restoration of the drinking water supply began in part of the localities that were affected by the incident suffered by the Maneje reservoir on Saturday afternoon.
Specifically, after midnight this Sunday, the impulse line 1, which supplies the localities of Tahíche, Mala, Arrieta and Punta Mujeres, was put into service. The company emphasizes, however, that the arrival of water to the populations and homes will be progressive, since the pipes have to be filled and reach the service pressure. Canal Gestión has highlighted the "speed and intense work" of its operators and technicians, as well as the companies that have collaborated with them to "solve this situation as soon as possible".
Throughout this Monday morning, the entry into operation of impulse line 2 is expected, which leads the supply to Nazaret, Teguise, Teseguite, Los Valles, Guatiza, Haría, Máquez and La Graciosa. In this case, the regularization of the supply could be reached on Tuesday.
Attention to those affected
The Coordination Cabinet formed by Cabildo, Water Consortium, Canal Gestión and the municipalities of Haría and Teguise, will remain active until the supply is fully restored in these municipalities, making a constant monitoring of the evolution of the works that are being carried out.
Likewise, the telephone numbers for attention to those affected 900 504 400 and 682 483 168 are also available to the residents of Teguise and Haría, so that they can contact in case they have exhausted their private reserves of drinking water. The Cabinet coordinates for these cases a service of distribution of bottled water and water in cistern, at the request of the municipalities.
On the other hand, Canal Gestión and the Water Consortium of Lanzarote have advanced that next Friday the new supply deposit will officially come into operation, pointing out that its start-up for this date was planned "internally". It is a deposit of 30,000 cubic meters, which "comes to reinforce and increase the storage capacity of drinking water and to serve as support in the face of eventual circumstances such as those that have occurred this weekend in the Maneje deposit", they point out.
