The diving schools located in Playa Chica, in Puerto del Carmen, have stated that it is "reckless and imprudent" to dive into the sea without a partner. Although they do not know the circumstances in which Bosco José Fernández Tapias entered the water, they assure that "diving is meant to be done accompanied".
The son of the businessman and vice president of Real Madrid, Fernando Fernández Tapias, has disappeared in this area while diving. According to the Civil Guard, which has already suspended the search for the young man after a week of searching, Bosco José entered the water alone and disappeared.
According to the Armed Institute, Bosco José could have suffered narcosis that caused him to die from drowning. In addition, the Civil Guard believes that his body could be in a chasm about 200 or 300 meters deep, making its location impossible.
Given these facts, the diving schools in the area have insisted that no diver can dive alone in the sea. "If someone dives alone it is reckless and imprudent and it doesn't matter how many years of experience they have. You always dive with a partner by your side", they say from one of the diving centers in Playa Chica.
"The body tends to stay at the bottom of the sea"
They even assure that they do not rent oxygen tanks without asking for the corresponding title that enables the diver to practice this sport. "We don't rent it if we see them alone", they point out, so they don't understand how Bosco José Fernández Tapias was able to rent the equipment and dive alone in the sea.
As another diving expert explains, "with the ballast that the diver carries and the weight of the bottle, the body tends to stay at the bottom of the sea". This reinforces the hypotheses of the Civil Guard, which has concluded the investigation, because it believes that the recovery of the body is practically impossible.
