Between 20 and 22 is the number of irregular immigrants who, according to the Civil Guard, were traveling in the boat that reached the coasts of Lanzarote this Thursday. Of these, 18 of the occupants have been located, for the moment, one of them a woman, who apparently came from the Maghreb.
Nine of them, according to police sources, claim to be minors, so they remain in custody at the Civil Guard barracks, together with two immigrants intercepted in the municipality of Haría during Thursday afternoon, awaiting tests to certify this. The rest of the immigrants have been transferred to the National Police facilities in Arrecife.
After arriving at the coast in the area known as El Morro, between the towns of Arrieta and Punta Mujeres, in the municipality of Haría, the irregulars fled. The Civil Guard continues with the search operation to find the whereabouts of the rest of the immigrants.
According to sources from the Canary Islands Emergency Service, the boat arrived on the island of Lanzarote without being detected, so when it landed, the immigrants traveling on it ran away. They were intercepted by the Civil Guard on the road towards Órzola.
