The Civil Guard has intervened this Monday a zodiac in the high seas that was transporting 496 kilos of hashish and whose destination was the island of Lanzarote, as La Voz had advanced and has now been confirmed by the press cabinet of the Benemérita through a statement.
The discovery occurred at dawn, when the crew of the patrol boat of the Provincial Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Las Palmas became aware of the existence of a suspicious vessel located about eleven miles off the north coast of Lanzarote, in the area of the Roque del Este. The Sive has detected this vessel.
The patrol boat moved around 00.30 hours towards the Roque del Este and proceeded to intercept the pneumatic type vessel occupied by two people. The zodiac was transporting several packages, supposedly bundles of drugs.
In view of these facts, the Civil Guard proceeded to arrest the two occupants, of Maghreb origin, and to seize a total of 17 bundles that, supposedly, contained hashish.
Once the pneumatic vessel was towed to land, the specialized units of the Civil Guard Command in Las Palmas took charge of the investigations, detainees and seized drugs with an approximate weight of 496 kilos. In addition, they have seized the vessel used and all the effects carried by the two arrested.
The zodiac has been transferred to Puerto Naos, where the agents have taken it out of the water. For their part, the detainees, together with the drugs, the vessel and effects seized, have been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court Number 2 of Arrecife.
