Vladimir A.R., accused of sexual assault, has admitted this Monday to having committed this crime against a minor under 16 years of age, on Medular Avenue in Arrecife in December 2007. The recognition of the facts has led to a reduction in the initial request for a sentence by the Public Prosecutor's Office from nine to six years.

The victim, for her part, who testified protected behind a screen, recounted how this assault occurred, where the accused approached her, grabbing her arm and "started groping her." At that moment she asked him to let her go, but Vladimir A.R. refused and managed to consummate the assault.

"It was by chance, it had to happen to me and that's it," said the victim, who waived the financial compensation requested by the prosecutor because, she said, she doesn't want money, "I just want them to punish him." Subsequently, her mother did accept the financial amount for the damages caused to her daughter, who needed psychological assistance after the events.

The Public Prosecutor's Office requested a six-year prison sentence for the accused, a ban on approaching the victim within 500 meters and on establishing communication with her for the next 15 years for damage "that we hope will not be irreparable," said prosecutor Miguel Pedro Pardo. The defense adhered to this request and the case has been seen for sentencing.
