The Teguise City Council is investigating the appearance of dead animals, some without heads or with their necks cut off, and believes that behind these findings there may be rituals of witchcraft. Councilor Eugenio Robayna has brought it to the attention of the head of the Local Police of Teguise, who will communicate it to the Civil Guard.
The discovery of a baby goat and two chickens with "their necks cut off" in the water in Costa Teguise this Wednesday has not been the only one. For "a month" they have been finding almost every week "chickens with their necks cut off" in the cemeteries of La Villa and, mainly, in Tao.
"The residents of Tao have complained a lot. They go to the cemetery to visit their relatives and look for a moment of peace and find chickens with their necks cut off. We are not used to this type of event and this type of witchcraft," said the councilor, who assured that the City Council is trying to "clarify all this", although for the moment he does not know who may be behind these acts.
"We believe that witchcraft is behind all this, because it happens practically every week in Tao. Municipal workers are finding dead animals, especially in this cemetery. It has been very noticeable for a month, it didn't happen before," said the mayor, who recalls a case in the old cemetery of La Villa.
In addition, the mayor is also concerned about the "bad image" that tourists who were walking along Las Cucharas beach this Wednesday and saw dead animals floating in the water may have taken away.
