Red Cross lifeguards rescued a 63-year-old man this Sunday who fainted on the shore of Las Cucharas beach, in Costa Teguise. The bather is of English nationality and lost consciousness when leaving the water, according to one of the lifeguards to La Voz.
The guards quickly went to the shore to help this man, who seems to have suffered a digestive cut. Thus, they had to open his airways since his tongue was obstructing the entry of air into his lungs.
As soon as they assisted him, the man began to breathe. Thus, the lifeguards placed him in a lateral position, that is, in a safe position, and called an ambulance. The paramedics evacuated the bather to the hospital.
The Civil Guard and the Local Police of Teguise also participated in this operation.
