The Civil Guard of Costa Teguise has arrested two people related to three theft crimes committed in the town of Arrieta and two others for crimes of receiving stolen goods. That is, for acquiring goods and objects from criminal activity.

According to reports from the Civil Guard, between January 25 and February 1, two people aged 43 and 25, with the initials C.B.L.C and H.P.L., were arrested in connection with the theft of underwater fishing rifles, cash, and bicycles, among other objects. Between January 26 and 30, two other people with the initials M.J.P.L -37 years old- and E.H.S -59 years old- were arrested for the crime of receiving stolen goods, for acquiring or buying the objects from the thefts.

The investigations began as a result of several complaints filed with the Civil Guard for thefts in the Arrieta area. Then the agents of the Investigation Area began the investigations and verified that the thefts "followed a common pattern". The perpetrators of the thefts took advantage of "the carelessness of the owners of the properties", both houses and garages, and accessed through open windows or doors "without forcing or breaking them". Once inside these properties, they stole all kinds of objects that they could easily carry.

Start of investigations

During the investigation, the Civil Guard then located one of the stolen objects, which was being offered for sale on the Internet. They proceeded to "seize it" and investigate the person who was selling it as the alleged perpetrator of a theft crime.

Continuing with the police investigations, they have been able to locate more people related to these crimes and identify and locate the alleged perpetrators. At the same time, the Civil Guard recovered several items, such as a fishing rifle and a bicycle, which have been returned to their owners.

The detainees and investigated have been placed at the disposal of the corresponding duty court in Arrecife. The Civil Guard has recalled that the purchase of stolen products, in addition to constituting a possible crime of receiving stolen goods, could encourage the commission of this type of criminal act. The crime of receiving stolen goods is punishable by between six months and two years in prison.
