A fire broke out in a house on Pérez Galdós street in Arrecife this Monday at approximately 05:45 hours, according to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Canary Islands Government.
Although there were occupants in the house when the fire started, CECOES has assured that "there have been no injuries". According to the Lanzarote Emergency and Security Consortium, the house was "apparently inhabited by squatters" and there were several outbreaks, the fire affecting "different rooms".
Firefighters, Local Police and National Police agents have moved to the scene of the incident, the latter being the ones who alerted 112. The firefighters have extinguished the fire with water and ventilated the house, according to the Consortium.
However, hours later a new fire was activated in the same area, which forced the firefighters to return to this street in Arrecife. On this occasion, the fire originated in a room of an abandoned house and did not cause personal injury either.
