The Security and Emergency Consortium was alerted last night to a fire in a container in Avenida del Mar in Costa Teguise and notified the fire department.
Once on the scene, officers found that several containers were burning, which was also affecting a nearby palm tree. According to reports, "a local resident had tried to extinguish the fire with two powder extinguishers."
The fire department extinguished the fire with water until they controlled the fire after a few minutes.
The front license plate of a nearby van was also damaged and bent by the radiation from the fire. The Local Police were also on the scene controlling traffic and safety in the area during the intervention.
