Agents of the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in coordination with the National Police, have arrested a man after allegedly assaulting and threatening his mother with a machete.

A note from the Local Police indicates that this intervention, which occurred last Sunday, took place after receiving a warning that a woman was being assaulted by her son.

Upon the arrival of the agents, the house was apparently empty, although the alleged aggressor appeared shortly after, who initially collaborated, assuring that there was no one inside.

Minutes later, according to the police report, the victim, the detainee's mother, appeared and recounted what happened.

He held her by force and even strangled her

According to her explanation, moments before, her son had broken into the house and, after an argument, held her by force, even strangling her with his arms until she was semi-conscious and preventing her from leaving the house.

Subsequently, the alleged aggressor left the place but returned shortly after armed with a machete with which he threatened her.

The police note adds that the victim managed to calm the man and took advantage of his excuse to go out for a smoke to take refuge in a neighbor's house from where the Police were alerted.

Thanks to the rapid response of both police forces, it was possible to control the situation and proceed with the man's arrest.

A machete, knives and other utensils

Several dangerous objects were seized in the operation, including a machete, knives and other utensils with which he could cause serious damage, and in fact, the agents discovered the machete under a car, as the detainee had hidden it in that place to avoid being requisitioned.

The City Council recalls that family and gender violence is a crime that must be reported immediately and specifies that both the Local Police and the National Police maintain rapid response devices to address these situations and guarantee the protection of victims.
