The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Costa Teguise arrested on July 8 two people, between 37 and 52 years old and with numerous police records, for allegedly robbing a jewelry store in Costa Teguise. According to the Benemérita, the perpetrators used "a preconceived plan" and stole from inside the store a bag with 16 gold chains, valued at 10,315 euros.

The Civil Guard initiated an investigation on July 3 as a result of a complaint from a citizen in which he reported that unknown perpetrator(s) had accessed, without forced entry, the interior of his jewelry store, stealing from inside a display case a bag containing 16 gold chains.

With the initial data collected, the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise initiated the police investigations based on the technical ocular inspection of the establishment, as well as the analysis of the images from the surveillance cameras, of the jewelry store itself where the events occurred and of nearby establishments, verifying how they had taken measures with the aim of avoiding being recognized in the visualization of the images, hiding their faces with caps and glasses and changing their clothing.

However, as a result of the police investigations carried out, it was possible to identify a vehicle supposedly used by the perpetrators to move around the island, which would lead to their identity.

Consequently, the Civil Guard carried out a discreet surveillance that resulted in the location of the alleged perpetrators of the theft recognized by the agents when they were trying to use the car, in the town of Costa Teguise, proceeding at that time to the arrest of the two, apparently they arrived on the island according to what they said, a week before.

It so happens that at the time of the arrest one of the detainees was carrying a bag containing 13 gold chains, among his belongings since they were trying to sell them, coinciding with those stolen and which were also recognized and delivered to their rightful owner.

It is worth highlighting the complexity of this police operation since the perpetrators did not reside on the island, and during the commission of the criminal act they took measures to avoid being recognized in the visualization of the images.

The now detainees were habitual in the commission of this type of acts having numerous records for similar criminal offenses, which makes one think that they were dedicated to all types of crimes against property in an itinerant manner throughout the national territory.

The proceedings were sent together with the detainee to the Investigating Court No. 3 in functions of Guard of Arrecife.
