An 80-year-old fisherman died on Tuesday afternoon after falling into the sea on Don Pancho beach, in Los Cocoteros (municipality of Teguise), as reported by the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium.

The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. when the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) received an alert reporting that a fisherman had fallen in a rocky area and had been pulled from the water by a citizen in cardiorespiratory arrest.

The caller began resuscitation maneuvers following instructions from the 112 operations room.

Once at the scene, the medicalized SUC ambulance personnel continued resuscitation maneuvers in their advanced stage, without results, confirming his death. The SUC doctor certified his death.

Firefighters also collaborated in the efforts to resuscitate the man. When the Civil Guard agents authorized it, the Emergency Consortium personnel proceeded to transfer the body to the judicial transfer vehicle.

The Local Police took charge of the proceedings.
