National Police agents in Arrecife have arrested a 48-year-old man, with numerous police records, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with force inside a vehicle. The owner saw the alleged perpetrator pass by with his belongings and detained him until the arrival of the police officers.
The intervention began after a call to the 091 telephone number from the owner of a car parked on a central street in the municipality of Arrecife, alerting that an individual had stolen an object from inside his vehicle and he had located him.
The owner, who was having breakfast with a friend, watched the individual pass by with a unique red box that he recognized as his. After going to his vehicle and observing that the glove compartment was forced, he proceeded to detain the alleged perpetrator until the arrival of the police officers, with the help of his friend.
Upon the arrival of the agents, the individual's participation in the events could be verified, and he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with force inside a vehicle. In the subsequent search, a knife and pliers were seized from him. The stolen objects were returned to their rightful owner.
Once the police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered his release with charges. The police intervention was carried out by members of the Local Citizen Security Brigade of the Arrecife Police Station.
