A new boat has been intercepted this Thursday morning in Fuerteventura with 36 immigrants on board, all adults and males of sub-Saharan origin, which with the 34 from the boat intercepted this Wednesday night already total 70 in 24 hours.
Thus, at around 11:00 a.m., the Command and Control Center of the Comprehensive Exterior Surveillance System (SIVE) detected a signal at sea that, due to its course and speed, indicated the position of a possible boat-type vessel sailing at a distance of 2 miles from the coast of the municipality of Pájara.
Risco del Paso
Immediately, a Civil Guard helicopter went to the area and a few minutes later located the boat when it was disembarking in the area known as Risco del Paso, at the mouth of the Barranco de Los Canarios (Pájara), where several all-terrain land patrols of the Civil Guard went.
The boat was stranded on the same coast, and all its occupants were located, a total of 36 adult male immigrants of sub-Saharan origin, who were initially assisted by Civil Guard agents and later by Red Cross personnel.
One of these immigrants has a wound on his right leg, at the height of the ankle, an injury that occurred before starting the journey by boat. Due to a probable infection of said wound, the immigrant has been transferred to a hospital center for medical attention. The remaining immigrants are, in general, in good health.
