The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías arrested on May 13 a minor as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of simulation of crime, "by pretending a robbery with violence and intimidation." The proceedings have been made available to the Prosecutor's Office for Minors of Las Palmas.
The events began the day before, when the minor went to the Civil Guard facilities in Tías, "assisted and represented by her mother." There, she reported to the agents that she had been "victim of a robbery with violence and intimidation, in which an individual, after giving her a push, which caused the aforementioned minor to fall to the ground and hit her head, stole her mobile phone, an Iphone VI valued at 650 euros," reports the Benemérita.
The agents of the Investigation Area took charge of the investigation to clarify the robbery and collected "a series of indications that cast doubt on the minor's version," the police force points out. Among these indications, the Civil Guard lists, as an "example", the place where the minor said the events had occurred, the entrance of a well-known Shopping Center of Puerto del Carmen.
There, the Benemérita points out, "a large influx of people usually concentrates in the time slot in which she reports the events", but the "possible witnesses, such as workers in the area, were unaware of or had no knowledge of an event of the magnitude presented by the complainant."
In addition, security cameras were located "precisely oriented to the exact point where the events allegedly occurred, according to references provided by the minor," they add. It was thanks to the "examination" of these cameras that the agents were able to detect that "the reported crime never happened."
Therefore, the minor was arrested for a crime of false accusation and simulation of crime, leaving the proceedings at the disposal of the Prosecutor's Office for Minors of Las Palmas.
The Civil Guard recalls that the simulation of a crime can carry penalties ranging from 6 months to 2 years in prison, or fines ranging from 3 to 24 months, depending on the level of severity of the false crime and false accusations against third parties.
