A 71-year-old man died on Tuesday night after choking on a piece of meat in a restaurant on Argentina Street in Arrecife.
The events occurred at 11:00 p.m. when the man was having dinner at the establishment with some friends, according to La Voz.
Emergency services tried unsuccessfully to revive the choking man with the Heimlich Maneuver, but he eventually died of cardiorespiratory arrest.
The Local Police, National Police, and several medical ambulances from the Canary Emergency Service went to the scene.
