The Local Police of Tías arrested a 47-year-old man, M.S., early this Sunday morning, who was caught in a suspicious attitude trying to enter a building in Puerto del Carmen. The arrested man fled from the police and allegedly hit one of the officers on the head, according to this police force in a statement. The police officer was also injured in the shoulder and had to be assisted at the Tías Health Center.

The officers arrested M.S, a native of Mauritania, who is accused of an alleged crime of assault against authority. Everything happened this Sunday, when the officers were providing services of the body in the town of Puerto del Carmen.

At one point, they realized that an individual was touching a building "with a suspicious attitude". The agents approached this man to identify him, but when they called his attention, M.S. fled.

While moving away from the agents, they "realized that the individual was bringing his hand to his mouth and swallowing something, which he later spat out between retching." When reducing the man, the police identified a substance in his mouth that, according to reports, "could be drugs."

Therefore, they transferred the detainee to the José Molina Orosa Hospital, suspecting that he may have ingested part of the alleged drug and caused intoxication.

In the scuffle, the detainee allegedly assaulted one of the officers in the head and shoulder. For this reason, the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the events was carried out, who was transferred to police stations where the corresponding procedures were instructed to later be brought to Judicial disposition.
