The Civil Guard has arrested a man accused of fraud, usurpation of civil status and document forgery, who allegedly committed these illegal acts in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. M.V., 43 years old and of Italian origin, was arrested on the island of Majorera.

The operation to arrest this Italian began last January, after the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) became aware of the alleged criminal practices of the now detained, as reported by this body through a statement. He had a total of 12 charges derived from his allegedly illegal actions on the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

After the Civil Guard investigated different accounts in banking entities, last Friday they managed to arrest this man when he was about to carry out a new allegedly fraudulent operation in the branch that the entity "Banco de Santander" has in the town of Caleta de Fustes (Antigua).

For the commission of these criminal acts, the alleged perpetrator used up to five usurped identities, according to the Civil Guard. After collecting all this evidence, the agents requested a warrant from the Court to enter and search the home of this Italian.

In this search, the civil guards seized various computer material with which he allegedly falsified the documentation to carry out the fraudulent actions, as well as "various identity documents prepared and ready for use".

The detainee was brought to judicial disposition this Sunday.
