This Friday, February 17, dozens of residents of the coastal town of Playa Blanca were frightened when they heard a loud bang in their homes and offices. The events occurred around 3:30 p.m., according to reports from CECOES, and were also felt in Fuerteventura.

The Yaiza Local Police have reported that they have received dozens of calls from residents who wanted to know what had happened. In addition, people who have heard the loud noise have pointed out to La Voz that even the glass has trembled, but it has lasted a few seconds. "It seemed like something had exploded," explains a neighbor.

Another reader explained to La Voz that he was waiting for the bus at the stop and suddenly heard a loud explosion and "I even saw the shock wave," describes the citizen.

CECOES has indicated that "after consultations with various organizations, it is ruled out that it was caused by a reaction plane, seismic movement or explosion. It could be related to a stormy nucleus near the islands in that time slot."
