A five-year-old child is in critical condition after suffering a near drowning in the swimming pool of a hotel in Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza, Lanzarote, reports the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands in a statement.
The incident took place around 5:00 p.m. this Thursday in hotel facilities located in the aforementioned municipality of Lanzarote.
Initially, the minor was assisted by the pool lifeguard, who performed basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers. These were continued by the staff of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) who arrived at the scene.
Once recovered, the health personnel provided advanced medical assistance during the transfer in an advanced life support ambulance of the SUC to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, where he was admitted in critical condition.
A basic life support ambulance and another medicalized ambulance from the SUC, a doctor from the Playa Blanca health center and officers from the Local Police and Civil Guard have been transferred to the scene.
