Marcial Pérez, owner of the company Comercial Marcial Pérez, was working around 9:00 p.m. on Friday in the warehouse. He had cleaned the floor and scrubbed the bathrooms and was about to go home after a day's work. He opened the company door and as he was about to leave, a man put a shotgun to his forehead.
They were three assailants, who were hooded and wearing gloves, and managed to take 3,000 euros and give the owner of the family business, dedicated to the distribution of brands and located on the San Bartolomé road in Arrecife, a good scare. In addition, they also stole two boxes with keys to the company's vehicles.
"Here we work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but I stayed doing things. Suddenly, I opened the door and as I was opening it they put a shotgun to my forehead. They told me to open the door or they would blow my brains out. I told them: 'Man, you're not going to kill me either,'" the owner tells La Voz.
Then, one of the robbers kicked him, leaving him lying on the floor. "They told me not to look at them, not to raise my head. But I got up, because I couldn't stay like that. They told me the same thing as before, to stay still or they would blow my brains out," he recalls.
The thieves went to the cash register, opened it and took 3,000 euros. "It was the money for the changes, because we don't keep it here. Thank God it wasn't more," he says. There was also a security guard in the company, but upstairs, in a house.
"They're not going to kill me for 2,000 euros"
The security guard heard noises and heard the owner of the company say to the robbers: "They're not going to kill me for 2,000 euros," he says. Then, he tried to call the police quickly, but as a result of his nerves he ended up dialing the number of an ex-boss. It was he who finally contacted the police.
National Police officers arrived "in about eight minutes" at the company. However, the robbers had already fled. "They didn't catch them. There was a fourth person waiting for them down the road in a car," explains Marcial Pérez.
Pérez says that his company has suffered eleven robberies, but never one like this: "They came and took some boxes of beer, or whatever, but like this, with a shotgun, never. The truth is that it's scary."
