A 71-year-old woman dies after choking in a restaurant in Puerto del Carmen

A 71-year-old woman of Norwegian origin died this Monday in Lanzarote after suffering choking inside a restaurant, according to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The event took place at 3:30 p.m. in an establishment located on Geiser Street in Puerto del Carmen, in the municipality of Tías. At that time, a call alerted that a woman had choked while in a restaurant and was not responding to stimuli.

The medical personnel of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), upon verifying that the affected person was in cardiorespiratory arrest, performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, which failed to recover her, only confirming her death.

It is a circumstance that it is the second death that occurs inside a restaurant on this Monday, after earlier this afternoon, a 58-year-old man died of a heart attack in Fuerteventura, while he was inside a local dedicated to restoration.
