The Local Police of Teguise dismantled an "illegal" outdoor party in Caleta de Famara on Sunday morning in which around 30 people were participating. The agents proposed up to 50 fines to the attendees "for non-compliance with health regulations" regarding the use of "masks, distancing and participation in events, meetings or any other type of acts", according to the police force.

After learning about the party thanks to citizen collaboration, two units of the Local Police went to the place, where they verified the presence of "a large group of young people" who were "smoking and drinking without keeping the proper safety distance and without using the mandatory mask."  According to the Police, some of the participants were wearing outfits or costumes related to the Halloween theme and had music equipment installed.

Upon arriving in the area, some of the attendees dispersed, but the agents were finally able to identify 25 young people. After managing to stop the party, they were proposed for sanction "for ignoring the most elementary preventive security measures against Covid-19".

According to the investigations of the agents who went to the place, the party may have been called through social networks and WhatsApp groups on the occasion of the Halloween holiday.

Call for responsibility and civic-mindedness

The Local Police of Teguise affirm that they continue in their efforts to carry out these surveillance tasks to pursue and avoid this type of party, which in their opinion continues to show that "there are a series of people with uncivil and antisocial attitudes that put us all at risk."

In addition, it makes a call "to individual and collective responsibility and civic-mindedness, not relaxing hygiene and social distancing measures, as well as the mandatory use of masks and the prohibition of adding in public roads, which today are the only effective measures to prevent infections."
